I frequently reference members of my family in my work, most notably my grandfather who features in many of my paintings .

He becomes an iconic figure. He was a constant presence during my childhood and lived with my mother during the final years of his life. I try to record the evidence of his generation’s struggles which are forever written into the landscape.
